Disgusted,

The show will be available on the website shortly. There was no consensus; there were various opinions, all of which deserve respect. Uncle Jim's goal is not to tell people what to think, rather, get them to think.

When people are asked for help (especially by strangers, for strangers, in emotional circumstances), it is not unreasonable to give due consideration before writing a check when a history of scams, mismanagement and waste, surfaces amidst humanitarian efforts.

It is important to distinguish between reluctance and caution. I, for one, would not be inclined to invite strangers into my home, especially when they could be among the rapists, murders and looters in need of housing. I would consider humanitarian aid. How that posture is characterized is in the eye of the beholder.

It is great to give when someone in need will benefit. I am sure you have very clear thoughts about this issue and would like to share those opinions. Most of what you write escapes me due to your difficulty with the written word. The power and benefits of your conclusions might be lost, like well-intentioned donations, due to poor mechanism. Someone said, "The pen is mightier than the sword." Pens can write checks - good; but they can also motivate - better.

If you can get those great thoughts into words we will all benefit.
